Funeral services for Terry L. Johnson, 54, of Normandy, who died Saturday, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Bright Temple Church of God in Christ. Burial will follow at Haley Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Johnson of Shelbyville; Five children, Brenda Johnson of Lisbon, Portugal, Billy Joe Brown, Marcus Johnson and Matt Johnson, all of Shelbyville, and Marquel Hickerson of Tullahoma; seven brothers, Thomas Johnson and Leroy Johnson of Shelbyville, Sam Johnson of Normandy and Michael Johnson of Lewisburg; three sisters, Louella Payne of Christiana, Doris Vance of Normandy and Anita McGrear of Shelbyville, and two grandchildren.

Terry was my best friend. We played basketball and ran track together. I tried to talk him into playing football,but he didn't like being outside in the two aday sun. Terry and I went to MTSU together, where we were roommates our first year. Terry and I got along well,since we were both quiet individuals.I couldn't out run are jump him, but he could never out do me in our beer drinking battles. I could count on Terry having my back, and he knew that I had his.In my great "gettin up morning",when me meet on that beautiful shore. What a day of rejoicing it will be." I just read J.W.'s comments and they couldn't be more true. I'm a little bit concerned I was't invited to the beer drinkings. Terry could jump out of the gym at 6'4in.He was a very soft spoken person until we hit the court. Sill soft spoken but he could play the game. He made me look so good and I was 5ft.7in. All I had to do was get it over half court and pass it within 3 feet of the basket and he said just leave the rest to me. I think he and J.W. felt sorry for me cause I was so short.
