Marvin Luther Clanton, Jr., age 66 of Shelbyville, passed from this life December 27, 2016 at his home. Per his request his remains are to be cremated and there will be no services held.
A native of Bedford County, Marvin Luther Clanton, Jr. was born February 12, 1950 to the late Marvin Luther Clanton, Sr. and the late Johnnie Charlene Norvell.
He graduated Shelbyville Central High School in 1968, later became a police officer and served in Shelbyville, Tullahoma and for the Bedford County Sheriff's Department. He was an avid outdoorsman and was Baptist in faith.
Survivors include: children, Trey (Bev) Clanton, Travis Clanton, Ryan (Jenny) Clanton, 5 grandchildren; brother, John N. Clanton and niece, Armie Kaye Clanton all of Shelbyville.

Marvin and I went to the same church, Shelbyville Mills Baptist. He was my first boyfriend, we were about 12 or 13. He took me to the Sweetheart Banquet the church sponsored. He gave me my first kiss--behind the church! But then we entered high school and the "romance" was over....
