I was unable to attend the reunion as we had a family vacation planned in the Great Smokey Mountains at the same time. This website is a great idea and I have been able to see classmates this way. THANKS FOR DOING THIS.

Even though I have visited Shelbyville frequently since my brother's death in July 2004 and my dad's death in February 2006, I rarely saw anyone that I knew--not even at Walmart! I realized after the reunion that I just did not recognize you! (Well, I did see Porter at Walmart, but he would be recognizable anywhere. After all, we did grow up across the street from each other.) Forgive me if I did not speak. The town has definitely changed! I feel so blessed to know that I have such a wonderful circle of friends scattered throughout the country. Our class is made up of special people! I regret that I did not get to speak to everyone. My husband, Morgan, also enjoyed our reunion. He remembered classmates from MTSU. He graduated from Lincoln Co. High School in Fayetteville in 1965.

Mom and I had a cousins' lunch on the Wednesday after the reunion. Our reunion was the main topic of discussion. The directory and my yearbook were passed around the dining room table multiple times. My mom's cousin, Evelyn McGrew, had her own stories to tell as a substitute teacher. The class of 1968 has truly left its mark! Thank you to all who participated in the planning; what a wonderful gift you have given us! Larry, this website is priceless!

Well, Folks, you are making me laugh, and you are making me cry. Please look up the profiles of our deceased classmates; I plan to add comments to more of them as I have time. I am so happy about this website; it is helping me connect to a time I had forgotten and a group of people who were so innocent and so basically good... life and years may have changed us, but way back there somewhere we still have those memories and those young dreams; we were a definite tribute to the life that then was and to a future that now is; I am so proud to be a part of the class of '68! I go to church with Diane Renegar Calahan's mother. As I asked her this morning how Diane's husband was doing, I realized that our classmates might not know that Ronnie is VERY sick. I'm not sure what is exactly wrong, but he has been at John Hopkins and the Mayo Clinic. Ms. Renegar said that Ronnie had a real bad week.

I checked, Diane hasn't done her profile. This might be the reason why. Please, everyone remember that family in your thoughts and prayers

This website is just what we needed to keep everyone in touch. Technology has certainly come a long way since Mrs. Hulan's Office Occupation Classes and the old IBM typewriters!
Thanks, Larry, for doing such a great job!

I am proud to be a part of SCHS's Class of '68. Looking forward to seeing everyone that can attend the dedication of the Memorial Seal. This will be a part of Central High for years to come and remind us of our classmates whenever we see it. Thanks to all for coming together for a common good.

Many of you remember my sister Kathy, she has recently been diagnosed wuth lung cancer, no she has never smoked and always been very physically active . I ask for prayers and support for Kathy and her family

She is in the hospital in Pittsburg,Pa, where she lives with her son Grant and husband Gene Page. Son, Garland, is away at college.

She is going for a second opinion and PET scan to determine the extent or spread.

They have drained fluid from around her lungs and heart and she trying to regain her strength from this procedure. Thanks for your support. Rhea Lawell Hiett

Rhea, I certainly hope Kathy is doing OK. I remember spending the night at your house and all of us going out, and having so much fun. I sure miss the good old days.

To all of my classmates,

The years have been kind to all of us. I was sadden by the number of classmates that had passed. That number will grow as we all know. So I hope the next class reunion, the one that did not come for this last one will make a strong attemt to attend our 45th reunion. They will be glad the did, because they don't know what they missed. I was very glad that I came to be with my old friends and classmates.

It's December and I'm still talking about the reunion and how much fun it was. I'm sure the people I work with are thinking "Give it a rest, already", but they just do
not know what a lift it gave me to once again see friends I never thought I'd see again; I often wondered where you all were and what you all were doing. There were a lot of geniuses that came from that class, Larry Phillips for sure, as he was the guru that set up the web site, and Lolly for spurring it on...aren't Lolly and Larry cousins? Or maybe that's my dementia creeping in...peace and love to all this season. Donna

I just want to say Happy New Year to the Class of 1968. I am so very proud of our class, and I cannot wait to see everyone at the next class function. I pray for each and every one of us to have a safe and prosperous New Year.

I hope everyone is having a great new year so far, but I was just wondering about the dedication of the Bronze Seal. Is it still on for the 23rd of January? Just wondering...

For those of you that didn't make it, the Memorial Seal Dedication was a moving experience. I am proud to be in the mist of the classmates of '68. I had a fantastic time hainging out with my classmates and cheering on our alma mater, as both the Eaglettes and Eagles beat Franklin County. It was also good to do a little more catching up.

To: Lolly, Tommy, Gerald, Rhea and anyone else that helped organize the memorial on Friday (1/23/09) night.

I don't believe there are words that can express my thoughts and feelings that I had during the memorial service. From the welcoming from Lolly to her poem (can we send me a copy?) to Gerald's announcing the 26 classmates that have gone before us to the bell ringing and lighting of candles to Tommy's message and prayer.

Brent & Judy: your dream came through. Just sorry you weren't there to experience the sensations.

Ditto Larry's thoughts on the Memorial Seal Dedication. The bronze seal itself is beautiful. If you missed the presentation, it will be well worth taking a moment of your next visit to Shelbyville to run by the school and see it. It is a wonderful tribute to good souls too quickly gone from us. -R.E.Howell
